Round and square cakes are the two typical cake shapes
seen at weddings all across the country. Couples today have
seemingly endless possibilities as far as flavor, filling,
size, and decoration of their cakes go. The style of cake
chosen by the bride and groom can go a long way in setting
the mood in the reception hall after the wedding ceremony.
Here are a few examples of ways to set whatever mood the
bride and groom want based on what cake they decide to serve.
Round Cakes
The round cake is by far the most popular style of wedding
cake. Round cakes are seen at weddings all over the country
as well as the world. As the years have passed couples have
viewed the round cake as boring old fashioned. While on
the other hand, other couples prefer the traditional nature
of this style of wedding cake. Round cakes allow for a diverse
nature of decorations to be used in the reception on hall.
Different and uplifting colors and decorations fit very
well with the round cake style. A classic example is surrounding
the cake with a beautiful floral arrangement.
Square Cakes
The square cake is a more modern take on the wedding cake
given the 90 degree angles at which the pieces of cake have
to be cut. The sharp angles are contrasted with a light
and upbeat decor such as flowers or bright colors. Sugar
is blended together in small balls placed on top of the
cake.
Table Cake
This style of cake is much smaller, but does serve as a
great centerpiece on a table. With table cakes each table
receives their own section of the cake for them all to share
and=2 0eat. To catch the eye more the smaller table cakes
are decorated with colorful candies or flowers to create
that eye catching centerpiece.
Flowery (Petaled)
This style of cake is presented in the shape of a flower.
The cake is multi layered with each layer having its own
unique theme. Usually these cakes are made with vibrant
colors. The decorations chosen are matched with different
textures. An example of how to execute this type of cake
is by using white coating, accented with sugar, and topped
with sugar shaped roses and sweet pea shaped toppings.
Six-Sided (Hexagonal)
The six sided cake is a modern twist on the classical round
cake. This cake does not usually feature much decoration.
This is done to really show the formation of the=2 0six
sides of the cake. Presentation is meant to be simple and
not very extravagant. The guests usually see the cake itself
as a decoration.
Tilted (Off-Kilter)
In this adaptation of a wedding cake, the layers are titled
at a 45 degree angle. The display is an amazing sight to
see where it creates the illusion of the cake is rotating
on an axis, like the Earth does. This display allows the
decorators to work better with the cake and make the cake
more decorative. Flowers, real or fake, ribbon, or other
decorations can be easily used to make the cake more decorative. |
