They’re lavish, exclusive and downright expensive.
They demand your undivided attention and all of your admiration
the second you lay your eyes upon it. But don’t be
surprised to find them in your mailbox of all places come
this wedding season.
I’m talking of course, about wedding invitations
in the form of silk boxes and silk folios made exclusively
from Thai silk. The silk that comes from Thailand is one
of the country’s more well-known resources and it’s
becoming more and more popular today for soon to be brides
to embellish their wedding invitations by covering them
in these expensive, handcrafted silk from the Far East.
What could be a more perfect way to generate excitement
and publicity for your upcoming wedding than to send out
such lavish invitations that could be mistaken for an invitation
to go see the King of Thailand himself? There is an array
of options when it comes to adorning these invitations.
They include not only the aforementioned silk boxes and
folios but also silk pouches and silk envelopes.
There appears to be no financial or imaginative limits
to how outlandish these invitations can become. It simply
does not end with the silk. Many brides even incorporate
rhinestones and crystals in beautiful shapes and symbols
to create truly one-of-a kind invitations.
Forget the wedding itself, planning and following through
with a wedding invitation alone can be quite time-consuming
in itself. For those willing, there are endless possibilities
and formats in which an invitation can be made. They can
be as lavish or as ordinary as you would like, depending
on your budget, time and tastes.
My first advice would be to select the material that fits
your budget best. Typically silk invitations are made with
100% silk so these can be quite costly. When all added
together, a silk wedding invitation can run up a huge number
and may take a bigger chunk out of your wedding budget than
you would’ve liked. If you really want to incorporate
silk into your invitations but have reservations about the
costs, Faux silk may be a better choice. In fact, more brides
recently are opting to go with Faux silk. Of course when
the two materials are compared, Thai silk is far and away
the more exclusive choice, especially when it is seen with
the light against it. But nobody, even the bride, wants
to come out of their weddings declaring bankruptcy or foreclosures
on their homes so remember to stick to your budget.
Another good advice is to plan early with your invitations.
Remember that Thai silk is hand-made so it takes a considerable
amount of time from when the order is placed to when the
product is ready. If an order or inquiry was to be made
late, than the product has a good chance of being rushed
through manufacturer the quality will suffer. For best results,
inquire two months in advance of when the invitations need
to be sent out so at least it’ll leave you with approximately
4 weeks to decide over the design of your invitation and
another four weeks for the manufacturer to produce the order. |
