Smart Tips for Planning a Wedding

When a couple decides to elope into marriage, a lot of things are going through their minds that can generate stress. We all know about the negative effects that stress can have on our abilities to think clearly and plan things well. The last thing any engaged couple needs is more anxiety added by poor planning. Here are some helpful ways to get your wedding headed towards that perfect day you have always dreamed about.

Set your budget.

One of the most important things about planning a wedding is how much money you have and are willing to spend. Most everyone would love to have that dream wedding in Malibu on the beach but the reality is most of us cannot afford it. So first and foremost, set yourself a budget because this will give you guidelines as to what you can actually plan to do.

Prepare a guest list that you both can be happy with.

The bride and groom should start by devising separate lists of the friends and family members they would like to attend. Keep in mind the budget you have set forth and keep the number of guests you can serve within that budget. After the initial lists have been made, you should compare the lists and immediately eliminate those who you both agree to be unsavory. When the time comes to eliminate the guests who you do not both agree on, it is very important to keep an open mind with each other. Be sure to give valid explanations of your reasoning as to why you feel a person should not attend. Another important factor when planning your list is to discuss the list with each other's parents. This is not just a big day for both of you; it is also a big day for them as well. Once you have combined the two lists into one that you both agree on, it is time to decide who will be playing a more important role.

Decide who the Best Man and Maid of Honor will be.

Make these choices based on the people you hold very close relationships with such as best friends or siblings. The best man and maid of honor should be people you would turn to for advice, have supported you in the past and someone you know will be happy seeing you get married. During this phase of planning you should also elect the people, typically children, who will be the ring bearer and flower girl. If you do not have children yourselves then consider nieces and nephews to play the role. The next step in planning is to formally notify the people on your list.

Send out R.S.V.P. invitations.

There are numerous choices you can make when deciding on what type of invitations you wish to send. Depending on your budget you may wish to have elegant double-envelope invitations designed and shipped to your invitees through a wedding planning company. You may also choose to buy pre-made cards and handle the invitations yourself. Either way the important thing is to make it unique to who you are and what you want.

Proper planning of your wedding will ensure a smooth flowing ceremony that leaves memories to cherish forever. As long as you take careful consideration into everything you plan, your perfect day will undoubtedly be just that, perfect.
