Historically wedding favors have been a way for the bride
and groom to say thank you to their guests as well as I
reminder of the couple’s happy day. The wedding favor
can be a maker or breaker for a perfect wedding. You should
choose something that is easy and inexpensive. Below are
5 great favors that are low cost, low maintenance and can
be prepared the prior day of your wedding to avoid any added
stress on your special day.
Everyone loves candy! Candy is an inexpensive unique way
to say thank you. Place a pre-packed box or tied bag of
candy at each place setting the day prior to the wedding.
Tie a bow around the package to incorporate the colors of
your wedding on the table. You can also double your candy
favor as a centerpiece for your tables. Choose five different
shaped vases and place them in the center of each table
filling them with candy that matches your wedding colors.
Then you can place an empty baggy with a classy note card
inviting your guests to the candy as a thank you. Using
a baggy or box, letting your guest fill them will save you
time and money.
What could be more romantic on your wedding day than flowers?
Again, place vases in the center of each table with roses
or another type of flower filling each. Use a place card
inviting your guest to take the vases and or single flowers
as a thank you for being a part of your special day. Flowers
take very little time and can also be prepared the day of
your wedding, saving you more time to sit back and relax.
If you want to make your flower favor more personal, you
can have ushers hand out single roses when guests arrive
to the reception or have your caterers place roses on each
place setting at the table. Either way flowers are low maintenance
and can be done the day before the wedding.
A picture frame engraved with the date of your wedding
can also be a great favor as well as a placeholder for your
guest seats. You can place the picture frame at the head
of each place setting or to save more time you can put all
the frames on a table together with the name of the guest
and the name of the table they are assigned. This gives
your guests a fun little activity while you’re getting
ready to make your entrance as the new husband and wife.
Who doesn’t love to look back at their prom or dance
pictures? Another great idea, but one that might be more
expensive, is to ask your photographer to take a photo of
each couple or single guest when they arrive at the reception.
The background of the picture can be decorated to fit the
theme of the wedding. The photographer can then pass out
the pictures or place them on a table for guest to pick
up on their way out. Or you can have your photographer pass
them out as the night comes close to an end. Another fun
idea is after most of the guest has arrived and their pictures
have been taken you can ask the photographer to set up a
slide show with the guests' pictures as the back drop to
the wedding.
